1961 Mercedes-Benz 190SL
Oceanview Classic Vehicles (www.ovclassics.com) has the distinct pleasure of representing one of the best Mercedes-Benz restoration specialists in Europe in the private listing of a very special Mercedes-Benz 190SL that comes with some adventurous history.
The previous owner imported the 190SL from the United States to Europe in 2006 for the specific purpose of participating in the world-renowned Historic Monte Carlo Rally. The 190SL went through a thorough restoration (€45,000/$54,000 USD) in preparation for participation in the Rally, of which it ran in three separate years, 2007, 2009 and in 2010. The 190SL placed 9th of 300 Rally Participants in 2009 and in 2010.

Description:
- 190SL always kept much of its originality
- It is matching numbers and matching colors.
- It retains its beautiful original 166G blue-gray color with its blue leather semi-bucket seats, dashboard & doors
- Completely revised in preparation for all three Rally’s with mechanical updates worth €45,000/$54,000 USD
- Review of the bodywork, paint, chrome
- Complete engine and mechanical overhaul including updating of the braking equipment, new tires and cosmetic of the engine compartment and interior.
- Dashboard is intact with all its original gauges
- Aftermarket Nardi vintage steering wheel with a wooden rim was mounted
- Competition measurement accessories for regularity rallies such as the VH-trip, auxiliary lamps, etc. are mounted but can be easily removable if customer wants.
- Original M121 921 type engine, which has received some improvements in:
- Compression
- Weber Feed System
- Cylinder head and camshaft that improve its behavior making it clearly more responsive in acceleration
- Estimating that these improvements contributed about 15 extra horsepower.
- Restored Alternator
- Fuel supply system by electric pump with pressure regulator and electric fans are responsible for providing an extra degree of mechanical reliability, greater thermal stability of the engine and ultimately greater reliability of the assembly.
- Transmission and rear axle are the originals and are fully restored.
- The suspension has the update of all its new rubber studs, ball joints and more, as well as a firmer damping made exclusively for this car.
- Front Disk Brakes with Rear Drum Brake system and its original ATE Servo Brake configuration.
- For use in these Rally events, the car has:
- Extras removable roll bar
- Front and rear headlight grille for night tests
- Retro sports seats
- 6-point harnesses
- Fire extinguisher equipment
- Measuring instruments extra elegantly integrated into a removable center console.
- Also available is 1 set of 4 original rims with additional slicks tires.
- The car has a restored hardtop painted in Dark Blue
- Original set of bumpers that are not mounted and that will need to be chromed if requested.
- The chrome wheel covers also come with the SL190.
- The full soft top and original seats are not available, although it is relatively easy to find original seats & soft top if you want to complete the vehicle in its original configuration.
